I raced out of the house the other day. I had everything. Keys...check! Brandon (my 1 yr old son)...check! His bag...check! A few cds to bump in my truck...check! I got halfway to my destination before I realized that I had forgotten my cell phone. How the hell did that happen? That's usually the FIRST thing that grab before leaving the house. I have a blackberry aka the crackberry. And it's addictive. I do so much with it. I blog from it. Send emails (i prolly shouldn't do it while in traffic). I mean everything. That day, I turned around so that I could get my cell phone. I was willing to risk being late (i'm never late for anything) just so that I could have my cell. Is that crazy or what? I remember when a cell phone was almost as long as your arm. Now, they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. They are responsible for emails, IMs, text msgs, and ringtones. Some days...I use the phone for everything EXCEPT talking on it. LOL.
In the days of new technology, we have all attached ourselves to certain gadgets. I remember when cell phones didn't exist. You'd get a page and have to stop at a pay phone. Are pay phones still around? LMAO. Seriously, I talked to a woman the other day who didn't own a laptop NOR a microwave. Huh? How is that possible in 2008? We are all about our gadgets. It doesn't matter if it's cellphones, laptops, ipods, GPS systems, HDTVs, etc. What is the one gadget that you can't live without?
rhyme time...
MCs get a little bit of love and think they hot
Talkin' 'bout how much money they got; all y'all records sound the same
I'm sick of that fake thug, R&B-rap scenario, all day on the radio
Same scenes in the video, monotonous material
Y'all don't here me though
These record labels slang our tapes like dope
You can be next in line and signed; and still be writing rhymes and broke
You would rather have a Lexus? or justice? a dream? or some substance?
A Beamer? a necklace? or freedom?

u didn't miss a beat on this one
there have been days where i just knew that i left my flat iron/curling iron plugged up in the bathroom
went ahead to work/school for hours and didn't think much of the possibility of fire
but i will do everything in my power to go back for my phone
or be depressed all day w/out it
me and my sidekick.
or crack-kick.
u like that, right...

"crackberry", good one. I leave my cell phone behind every once and a while, but that is only because I am not use to carrying one. I only got the damn thing once I promoted, so my troops could get a hold of me. Yet another needless bill, but I will admit that it comes in handy. Damn it! I can still take it or leave it. And yes, payphone do still exsist, but that are few and far between...Believe me. I think even the homeless have cellphones these days.
@ -1-
We all know that the phone is more important than leaving the curling iron plugged up. LOL
crack-kick? I like dat
@ One Man’s Opinion
The homeless have cell phones! LOL. That may be true.
I was actually working in the cellular industry before the big boom. We KNEW it was coming too. at the time in 94 we had only penetrated the market like 15%. that means that only 15 in 100 adults had a cell phone. We thought we might at the apex get to 75%. We no way invisioned 90% with probably 20% having 2 cell phones. That's crazy. And then how many teenagers and even pre-teens?
I think we feel like we're less safe without our cell phones. Like in the 1 in 10,000 chance that we get into an accident we must have the phone to call someone.
My 9 year old asked for a cell. I asked him who in the hell was he going to call besides me, his mom and his grandparents? And by the time he's ready to talk to us..he can do it from his house. AFTER SCHOOL.
so true, so true... humans today are addicted to technology.
me? Oh, I trust a machine about as far as I can throw it! I do feel weird without my cell, but I hardly use it for anything real. And life without Google and YouTube would be so depressing, so I do need my computer...
BUT... I don't put too much trust or depend too much on those things, because if I do I know one day they will rise up and take over the world. Oh yeah, you read correctly: RISE UP AND TAKE OVER THE WORLD!
Everything is computerized, controlled by satellites, stored in a hard-drive somewhere. There's a machine to detect and clean dust on your floor. Another automatically makes your coffee in the morning. Yet another tells you how to get from point A to point B in your car (while Big Brother watches it all).
All of these "improvements" so we can what? Live better-faster-longer? Psh!
And maybe I watch too many movies, but ever since I saw Jurassic Park all those years ago, Jeff Goldblum's words have echoed in my head whenever some newfangled "improvement" is introduced to the American consumer:
"you were so busy trying to figure out if you could, you never stopped to think if you should..."
*hops off soapbox and goes to YouTube to watch that 3yr old explain Star Wars...again*
I am really digging the rhymes you chose this morning. They hold much truth. I know here in The South most of the rappers have the same lame ABC type flow, but aren't rapping about ish...which is why I will stick to zoning out to the seductive sexy tunes of Ms. Jill Scott and John Legend. LOL
As for the post at hand...I can do with out my phone because I like my peaceful alone time. I do, however, think I am slowly becoming addicted to the internet. I am ashamed to admit the many times I check my personal email in the course of a day. LOL
(No, I didn't get frienemies from LRenee; I got it from reading wayyyyy too many celeb blogs about Paris Hilton and Nichole Ritchie. LOL)
CBW..the Queen tried to set me and ya boy Rezidl up yesterday.
We supposed to brothers man.
CMB baby....we all we got.
We down like 4 flats on a black Cadillac with 4 fat chicks in the back eating 4 Big Macs.
Take that Queen. LMBAO
I lost my treo the other day. Had to write a post about it. It was just that serious.
Good thing was, I had a desktop, a laptop, my iphone, and my blackberry as back up. Everyone else just couldn't get in contact with me.
I just got a microwave all of two years ago. I don't care for them. They don't heat up fried chicken well. So why bother with it? The pizza comes out tough... Who wants chewy pizza?
The gadget I cannot live without... I would say my phone but that would be a stretch when I have three. I would say the feature I cannot live without is text messaging and e-mail. Like you I blog and respond from far. But text messaging... I don't like talking to people on the phone. Text all day. Voices over phone lines I can do without.
@ Brad...see, I was just chilling today, besides, Rezidl started it, not me. I still have MAD love for you because you stand 6'3. LOL. Superficial? Maybe a little, but you won my heart with the Mellow Yellow, but I couldn't diss Kyle on his own blog.
*Whispering* Meet me under the bleachers at 3 o'clock.
LOL
LMAO @ We down like 4 flats on a black Cadillac with 4 fat chicks in the back eating 4 Big Macs.
CBW...I refuse to live without my blackberry. I do everything except talk on it, too. It's my damn alarm clock for crying out loud. And, it's to receive the ten thousands text messages a day from YOU!...LOL
Brad...glad cooler heads prevailed. I almost wore my '84 Air Force 1's and Coca Cola rugby shirt to 12th Planet class today, but thought I didn't want to start no trouble between you, me and Queen.
The same thing happened to me last week. Add to that, we were doing the "one car thing" because MPs (Mr. Pro) car was having brakes replaced, so I felt like my entire pattern was disrupted because I was now full time chauffeur. If it hadn't been for all the extra hoopla I wouldn't have left my phone blah blah. I rode all the way with a straight attitude. I felt like I was experiencing cell phone withdrawal. There are the gas prices to think about, the fact that I would have had to drop off MP and the kids to work and school, then turn around and head back home for my phone. Ugh. I had planned on posting up at the local Panera Bread, laptop in tow, just so I could stay on that side of town to cut down on the back and forth. I had my reading material, e'rythang. MP was so sweet to offer me his phone for the day (and for safety precautions) and I politely turned it down (but was thinking 'da hell yo phone gone do me some good? ALL my numbers, info etc. is in MY phone). I calmed down enough and started reaching in my laptop bag for something... MY PHONE! In my rush, I stuck all my stuff in there and not my purse. Talk about somebody that instantly felt like I had just hit the crack pipe!
Technology in my home can't live without:
cell phone (we have no land line)
coffee pot (obvious)
microwave (")
laptop (we have 3, plus a desktop)
Internet (duh)
digital cable box/DVR (I don't even watch TV per se, I watch my previously scheduled recorded shows when I make time to sit still)
End of Pro's blog post on 12th Planet! (Just a simple something married folk can relate to -- sacrifices WE make!) LOL
I used to have a crackberry. But I got put on front street by my mother for using it at the dinner table during one of her visits.
Now I have only a small cell phone and I never even set-up the voicemail feature. I figure if I'm not near the phone when you call, I didn't want to hear what you had to say then, and I don't want to hear it later.
12Kyle,
I can honestly say I am not a techie. I carry my cellphone only because my husband makes me just incase of an emergency. I really honestly couldn't live without my microwave and dishwasher. LOL
I am feeling some type of compulsion towards the internet though. LOL
Maybe, it's your blog 12Kyle that's got me hooked. But, everything else I can take it or leave it. My husband on the other hand is the Gadget King! I've got 5 different remotes and I have no damn idea how to work our own t.v. LOL
@Rezidl, Brother we can't let women come between us. That's what women do....divide and conquer. It's all a PLAN man. LOL
Ummmmm Queen did you say the 3rd Bleachers?
@ Brad...the 3rd set of bleachers at 3 o'clock. *Wink*
**Off to find CBW to walk me to class**
Lol, Good question.
There are days I can't live without my cell, but there are days won't carry it. Today is one of those days.
One appliance that I have become dependant on is my Bag Sealer--It is handy for everything. Not really a Tech Gadget though.
Oh one thing I do truly need though is my Ipod. Music soothes the savage beast.
....I'm one who loves the fact that we live during the time that technology makes so much so possible. Flying, talking, seeing each other from distance places, etc...I'm not sure I'd want to survive without being connected.
*spots CBW, Brad and QMC in the hall near the lockers....walks over and says "hey, I'm having a party at my house tonight. My parents are gone for the weekend." Considers his job done.
LOL...I left my cell home one day this week and didn't think anything of it because...I'm going to work and everybody who I would want to talk to has the work number and email addy anyway.
I happened to miss some text messages though...folks thought it was the end of the world because I left my phone home. chill lol
One of my co-workers doesn't have a microwave at home. He'll buy the microwave popcorn for a snack though and then ask me how long he should leave it in the microwave at the office. I don't know how many times I've told him to just press the "POPCORN" button!lol
A house party?! Who's gonna be Kid, from House Party, and walk me home at the end of the evening?
I too can not live with out my phone! I get sick to my stomach when I leave it home. lol
I also can not live without my laptop, I love to sit it on my lap and let it heat me up! freahky huh, I know. lol
My ceramic flat iron works a miracle, I love, love, love, those $200.00 flat iron.
he
never had a celly
im no worse for wear
*walks away singing*
Uh, who shot Biggie Smalls?
If we don't get them, they gon' get us all
I'm down for runnin' up on them crackers in they city hall
We ride for y'all - all my dogs stay real
Nigga, don't think these record deals gon' feed your seeds
And pay your bills, because they not
u been listening to my playlist?
lol
I'm going to have to cheat and go with two things: cell phone and t.v. I remember a time when I had a huge black, unsightly cellularone phone and I RARELY use it.
Now if I forget my cell phone at home, I dang near have heart palpitations. What if my car breaks down? What will I do? Depend on the kindess of strangers? It's so funny to me because I'm like, people survived before cell phones.
TV is essential. When the cable goes out I'm darn near ready to go into prayer. LOL
@ Brad
I spoke to a class of 4th graders at my son's school about 3 wks ago. I asked them to raise their hands if they had a cellphone and everybody (25) raised their hands. I'm like..."Who are y'all callin?"
@ Jaded NYer
"There's a machine to detect and clean dust on your floor." Where is it? I need it! LOL
YouTube is the shyt
@ Queen
You can't go wrong with dead prez. My taste in hip hop has a wide range.
The internet is soooo addictive. I can't lie. I'm like Pookie.
@ Brad
lmao @ u!!!
@ Urban Thought
I know a few people who would rather email and txt all day than to talk on the phone. Maybe that's the new wave. Lol
@ Queen
Don't trust that Mellow Yellow stuff! LoL
@ Rezidl
Preach on about the blackberry. You don't use the phone anyway! LOL. Your convos never last more than 5 mins. Haaaaa.
@ Pro
The cell and the DVR are a must. That was nice of your hubby to lend you his phone. I'd be too afraid that my wife would break mine. LOL
@ prettyparker
Shame on momma parker for doing that! LOL
@ LRenee
The dishwasher is soooooo necessary in my house
Hubby makes you carry a cell. Too funny
@ Brad
I see you
@ Queen
WTF? LOL
@ Tabu
Would you believe that I don't own an ipod?
@ Rezidl
It's all about being connected
@ OD
Press the "popcorn" button. Haaaaa. That's funny
@ Sexxy Luv
That's a good list. That flat iron is VERY important
@ dejanae
M1 and stic.man at their best!!!
My cell phone and laptop, without a doubt. I remember leaving my cellphone at work, and i kept calling it to retrieve my messages, lol, yep to doggone dependent, and there aren't many payphones around anymore.
Gosh, that is so true. Technology has advanced in such a way, I haven't even taken a look back and the things once used once it was replaced with something bigger, better, and FASTER!
The one thing I'd go crazy without would be my laptop. The convenience of it, its features, and the world it exposes me to... gosh, it makes me nervous thinking about losing it.
Ooo, and my cell phone. Not that I talk on it much, or that I send texts or IMs on it, because I rarely do. I mainly use it for emergencies and my alarm clock.
@TravelDiva
I feel you on the cable. I'm like a lil kid when it comes to that.
@ Miz
I wonder how much it costs on a pay phone now...a dollar? Two dollars? LOL
@ Mika
You use the laptop for your alarm? Wow!
@TravelDiva

My crackberry and my ipod are 2 things I cannot live without... I wish VZ would hurry up and get the bberry curve... right now I have the world edition 8830 and I feel like I'm old skool even though this phone has been out less than a year.
Have you seen the crackberry 9000... when it drops it is going to kill the iphone... i cant wait for that too...
and you need to take this word verification thing off... I swear I am about to type the longest one I have ever seen!
Eb....I love my blackberry world phone....literally connected anywhere in the world....true story....I'm in Florence, Italy sitting outside a handbag manufacturing building talking to a business partner and a helicopter with a big "C" on the bottom flies over head. I ask what/who is that and they say Roberto Cavalli (designer)....on the spot, in excitement, I hit folks on the email back in the States about the scene. At that moment, I was like, "I love this world phone."
@ Rezidl...OMG!!!!! Did you meet Mr. Cavalli?! I soooo love his designs. I swear I would love for him to design dresses for my boutique. His style is so sexy and feminine without being trashy and raunchy.
Kyle...I'm with Eb, I HATE these word verification thingies. UGH!!!
QMC....didn't meet him, but am definitely a fan.
Rezidl...Really now? I haven't met many men that dig Cavalli, better yet KNOW anything about him or high fashion. I'm impressed, seriously.
I will assume you, Kyle, and Brad are well dressed then. Kudos to your wifeys. There's nothing like a nice smelling, well dressed, and well-versed man, IMO.
...We try.
...in the morning, my wife makes me stand in front of her so she can soak up the look for the day and then she inhales the smell, and then says, "Ok you can go!"....LMAO.
Yeah, my mother was a handbag designer and I handled her business side of things which introduced me to some cool designers. Lots of great style in the nooks and crannies of Florence and Genova.
LOL yeap, gotta check for the one year old male first born. Mine is 15 now, boy you are gonna have fun and do enjoy each second with him
@ Eb the Celeb
Can't wait for the new bberry!!!
@ Rezidl
Cavalli brought his helicopter to Florence, SC? LMAO
@ Queen
I look fly in a suit and tie. LOL
I like to be fresh to def. I don't know Cavalli but I've seen him at the Spades Tournament a few times. haaaaa
@ Torrance
I can't imagine these lil dudes when they get older. Time definitely flies by.
peace, thanx 4stoppin thru my spot. yup, it's definitely the cell phone. although mine is just a regular one, (you know, the kind that you just make phone calls on, LOL) I still can't do without it. It's always on, I sleep with it next to me, hell, I don't even go to the bathroom without it. *shakes head in shame*
LMAO!!! You're so silly.
Would love to see you in a suit and tie. Always had this fantasy of a suit and tie clad man walking through the door after a long hard day at work. I'm just getting out of the shower and...
LMAO! Ha!
Queen I'm requesting that you return to the castle and sit in the nautty chair!
The naughty chair/castle is the naughtiest place to be. It's laced with feathers, whips, hand-cuffs, whipped cream, and a blind-fold...are you sure you want to send me there?
I was only having a little fun
:-(
@ Queen and Sexxy Luv
I'm stuck in traffic and y'all are crackin me up!!! LOL
I want a blackberry so bad!!! I'm hatin' so I ain't answering your damn question!!!! lol.
My ragggedy ass cell phone is the gadget I can't live without.
LOL @ cells being almost as long as your arm.
I can't tell you the last time I saw a pay phone.
The gadget I can't function without is a camera. I am always taking pics of myself. My parents laugh at me whenever we're in the car together because they hear that flash and they knooooow what I'm doing.
@ Tha L
Thanks for coming thru to the 12th Planet. Come back. We have a good time ova here.
I thought that I was the only one who took their celly in the bathroom with them? LOL
@ prettyblack
You don't need a blackberry. Its not all that. It's just aiiight. (wink, wink)
LMAO!!!
@ Jewells
You remember those joints? Lmao!!!
Very good Brad, I’m glad you didn’t get caught up in the hype of getting your child a cell phone just because other children have one!!!
I’m not that attached to electronics, but if I absolutely have to choose I will go with my television set. I have left my cell phone home and at work many a day. I usually don’t go back for it. I just get it when I get back home or to work. My microwave just stopped working 2 years ago and I still have not replaced it. My youngest daughter heats everything in the microwave and she freaked out when I first told her that I was not going to replace it, but she is now accustomed to heating her food without it.
I worked with a woman who did not like new gadgets. She had a turntable, television and a telephone. She refused to buy a cell phone cassette, cd, vhs, or dvd players.
www.deliveringonthepromise.com/rcvmoore
I can not live without my cell phone either. I have two of them actually, a mess I know but hey...the pre paid ones are like $20 bucks...I can't help cus Im a baller..LMAO!!!
