attractshunnz

"I only seem to attract two types of chicks...

1) hoodrats who have a few kids and now she's looking for a father to help raise the youngins.

2) cougars who have kids almost my age...these are older women who are looking to get their groove back.

Why can't I meet a chick who's on more like my type?"

This statement was made to me a few days ago by a homeboy of mine. I'll be honest...I laughed when he said it. It was sooo funny.

He went on to explain his theory about how sometimes the people that are attracted to us are totally opposite from what we want.

Some of what he said made sense. It's kinda hard to relate to it b/c I'm married. But before I was married...in my day...I never had that kinda problem. The females that I met were my type. I can't really think of any crazy stories.

Here's my question to you...what kind of people are attracted or magnetically gravitate to you. Young... old? Tall... short? Slim...big? Rich...poor?

TEN PRESIDENTIAL TRAITS EVERY MAN SHOULD HAVE

1. RESPECT

2. PATIENCE

3. OPEN-MINDEDNESS

4. ENTHUSIASM

5. ACCOUNTABILITY

6. HUMILITY

7. EMPATHY

8. RESPONSIBILITY

9. INITIATIVE

10. DIPLOMACY

I read this in this month's Men's Health magazine. It made me think.

It's time.

Time for us black men to step our game up. With Obama leading the way, it's time for us to make changes in our lives that will make us better husbands, boyfriends, fathers, brothers, uncles, and friends. As men, we can no longer use some of the lame ass excuses that we have used for so long.

Change starts from within. You can talk about change. You can talk all that you want. Don't talk...do it.

Not only should we as black men step up individually...but we should pull up the "sorry bruthas" as we climb up the ladder. If you can't be inspired by an educated, dedicated family man who doesn't have several kids outside of his marriage...then you don't have a pulse. Is he perfect? Nope. None of us are. But it's really time for black men to step up.

Keep in mind that with every press conference...every public appearance...every day the world will get to see Obama's swagger. His swag, in so many ways, is much like ours. The world will view him and us in a different light. Does this mean that it will end racism? Hell no. There are a ton of people who don't want him in the Oval Office but they have to deal with it. But how he's viewed by the world and by us black men will be on display.

That said...it's time for us to do our part. This post isn't to bash the fellas...even tho the ladies say that I don't get on the fellas enough. LOL. This is just a call for us to look in the mirror. Don't talk about it. Do it. Find a way. Every black man has a purpose. Personally, if I ever lost sight of that I would look at my 3 sons and they would remind me of what I need to do. Be better.

Even more...be presidential!!!

random thoughts...

65,411,143...that number represents amount of votes that Barack Obama received. It is the most ever received by any presidential candidate. Did you know that? Now you do!

The leader of the free world is a black man! I don't think we can begin to understand how huge that is and the message that it sends to the rest of the world

Big ^ to the Univ of Texas for kicking a player off its football team after he posted a racist remark on his Facebook page shortly after Obama won the election. The post called for folks to get their "choice of weapons ready b/c there was a nigger in the White House." He has since issued an apology and he said that he wasn't racist. Yeah...rite.

Real Housewives of Atlanta? Never seen the show. I keep hearing about it, tho. Um...I'll pass.

Contrary to popular belief...I do put my Blackberry down. Sometimes.

I don't do office Christmas parties. There's always gonna be some people who get drunk and act a fool at the party. They will be the talk of the office gossip.

It's tough when your birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas. It's even tougher now b/c my youngest son, Brandon, will turn 2 the day after my birthday. That means that I won't get a party. *sigh* LOL

Memo to Souljah Boy...save the money that you make right now. Your "talent" won't carry you beyond next year.

Word on the street is that SuperHead is pregnant from Bow Wow! Nooooo! Say it aint so! Who in their right mind would have unprotected sex with that freak? Talk about playin with your life!

We learn more from childbirth to the age of 6 than we do for the rest of our lives. So...does this mean that we're grown dummies?

Who's hotter...Amerie or Ciara?

The Falcons are 6-3! I would have never though that the season would be like this

HowboutdemCowboys????? LMAO!!!!

I could ask 5 people this question..."What is love"? I'll bet you that I'd get 15 different answers

One thing that i learned from yesterday's post...women are competitive. Period!

Regina King...Regina King...Regina King

Gas is under $2. I guess I should be happy. For some reason...I feel like I got pimped this summer.

7 out of 10 Americans have a favorable opinion of Barack Obama

1 out of 5 Americans have a favorable opinion of Dubya and his administration.

I love going to meetings or seminars and spotting that ONE dude who is falling asleep and struggles to stay awake. Watching that cracks me up.

Is Vitamin Water real water? I've never tasted it before.

How much time do you spend exercising each day?

It's getting too cold to play golf. Damn

Sometimes you gotta tell your man/woman..."I know that you heard me...but were you listening????"

The other day, I met an 83 yr old man who's been married for 54 yrs. I wonder if Mrs12 will put up with me for that long? LMAO!!!!

Has anybody seen Jay Z or Beyonce with wedding rings/bands on? Just curious.

I think I'm going to the doctor to get my pinky checked out.

Wonder if I can I have DirecTV remove BET from my package?

Kenya Moore...Kenya Moore...Kenya Moore

Ever been on a flight and the person next to you refused to shut the hell up?

I'm tryna get to DC for the festivities. I need a place to stay. If you're in the DMV...hollatchaboi. All I need is yo couch and I'm good.

I hope Janet ain't pregnant by that lil dude...whats his name

Don't be mad at me because your candidate lost. You betta do what I did 4 years ago...get over it!

Wonder if John McCain feels bad about losing to "that one"

Did Palin give those clothes back yet?

The Atlanta Hawks are 6-0!!! We can't be stopped! LOL

Anybody know when the Boondocks will be back on tv????

playa hater

Playa Hater or hater (for short)

Why do women hate on each other?

That was the question that was thrown out by my girl, B, on Twitter today. Very good question.

I'm not saying that guys don't hate on each other...they do...just not like the way that women do. For example, I could be sitting in a room with woman #1. If woman #2 walks into the same room, you can see it all unfold. Woman #1 will "eye scan" woman #2 and she may even frown or turn up her nose.

We all make our own conclusions about a person within the first 11 seconds that we meet them. We are able to conceive notions about a person's...level of education, style, personality, wealth, ethic, etc. That said...SOME women hate other women immediately. I call it...hate at first sight. Why?

Growing up, I always had a great deal of female friends. And I still do...to this day. They would always tell me that "it's hard to be friends with a lotta females and it's easier to have male friends." Why?

They used to always tell me that they'd "never tell their most intimate stuff about their man because they feared that the female would stab them in the back and try to get at their man." Wow! Is that true? Do you have a friend who you DON'T trust around your man?

Don't get it twisted...I'm not sayin that dudes don't hate on each other...b/c we do. It's just not the same.

So, I throw these questions out to the females (and the fellaz) of the 12th Planet. I need to get your thoughts. Have you done any of these things? Are you a hater? If so, we won't bash you. LoL.

off tha dome

I had intened to do this post yesterday but I really couldn't put my feelings into words...

random thoughts...

President Obama! Damn...that sho sounds good!

I told y'all that he'd win big...but I didn't think it'd be THAT big.

John McCain was sincere in his concession to Obama. I was impressed. Dude really looked like he had been crying. I would give you a high five McCain but since you can't...gimme a low five

McCain barely hugged pale-lynn. The tension was visible.

Get ready for pale-lynn 2012! lmao!!

With Obama in office...I wonder if they will try to remove affirmative action?

Wonder what Joe the Plumber gonna do now?

It felt good to see my people come out in record numbers to the polls.

Obama lost in Georgia despite the huge turnout. Wanna know why? There are black folk in Atlanta, Augusta, and Savannah. That's it. Outside of that, this state is hickville! Always has been a red state

Big ^ to Ohio, VA, and NC

Funny to hear McCain's people blame pale-lynn for the loss. Don't blame her...blame McCain for picking her!

Maybe its just me...but I don't wanna see Barack do another speech outside in public like that. I'm not saying that anything is gonna happen b/c I believe that he will be safe. But I don't trust these weirdos.

My oldest son, Deion, reminded me that he and his brother Kameron are the same ages of Obama's daughters

Michelle Obama...Michelle Obama...Michelle Obama

It's safe to say that we've neva had a first lady that fine!

Who's down for the trip to DC for the inauguration?

pale-lynn thought that Africa was a country and not a continent! Are you kiddin me?? And she wanted to be vice president? Isn't that something that you learn in the 5th grade? Everybody knows the differences between a country and a continent!

if pale-lynn were black...she wouldn't even be on the map!

Wonder if Barack is gonna hook Hilary up???

Bill Clinton...I'm disappointed in you. You did a lotta hating. You need to go back to doing what you've been doing...chasing hoes.

Tavis Smiley...I'm REALLY disappointed in you. You hated on Barack like Hilary was YOUR woman. I lost a great deal of respect for you. All of that stuff that you talked about 4 yrs ago about holding the Democratic party responsibe is just words to me now. This is a new day. Roll with Obama...or step the hell off the set. Period.

Call me a hater...but I wasn't fazed by Jesse Jackson's tears. Just last month he wanted to "cut Barack's balls off"

I don't envy Barack. This mess that he has to clean up is gonna take a while. We have to be patient.

Thick skin. I told y'all months ago that we'll need it. That's the only way that we'll be able to deal with these racists comments, jokes, and emails

I can't lie...when Obama talked about the 106 year old lady who voted...I shed a tear.

Y'all betta not tell nobody...b/c OG's aint 'sposed to cry. Hahahaha!!!

President Obama! Doesn't that sound good??

Have a great weekend

I was speaking with my homegirl Trish the other day and we got on the subject of Barack Obama.

She said...

Every Good Hero needs a theme song or theme music.
When Senator Obama wins, what do you think his theme music should be??
I say "Shaft"

Interesting!

I thought about it for a second. Then, I said...maybe he should go with "Hi Haters". LMAO!!!

to my #1 fan...

i found this quote and it helps explain how i feel about you. i enjoy this journey that we're on. love is infinite.

Life is never perfect, and love is never what you want it to be. I don't know where we will end up, but I do know that we share a love. As we enter this new phase in our relationship, I feel a chance to begin again. Everyone knows how pearls are made, sand in an oysters mouth... Well our love has encountered and will continue to encounter "sand" and other trouble... But as we work the best we can, we can make our own pearls. Someday when we are old and gray, we both will stand hand in hand on a beach of pearls and watch the waves come in, and know that our love has conquered all that has attempted to shatter it, and together we will be victorious. - Jerry Grant Blakeney

strange but true...

All of these stories happened last week. They are strange...but true.

Man sues Fla. strip club over dancer's flying shoe

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - An angry wife or girlfriend might not be the only thing to worry about when visiting a strip club. A man suing a Pompano Beach club claims a performer's shoe flew off during a pole dance, shattered the mirrored ceiling and caused glass and the shoe to hit him.

The lawsuit filed in Broward County by 35-year-old Charles Privette says the Booby Trap breached its duty when its employee failed to perform her routine in a reasonably safe manner. The suit seeks at least $15,000 in damages.

Privette's attorney says his client suffered a small cut to his eyebrow, headaches and nose bleeds because of the Jan. 14 pole dance. Booby Trap general manager George Gettinger acknowledges paramedics were called but said injuries were minor.

Police arrest Mich. man for car wash vacuum sex

THOMAS TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Police say a Michigan man has been arrested after "receiving sexual favors from a vacuum" at a car wash.

The Saginaw News reports the 29-year-old Swan Creek Township man was arrested Thursday in Saginaw County's Thomas Township, about 90 miles northwest of Detroit.

Police Sgt. Gary Breidinger says a resident called to report suspicious activity at the car wash about 6:45 a.m. An officer approached on foot and caught the man in the act.

The suspect, whose name wasn't immediately released, is being held in the Saginaw County Jail.

Woman obliges after husband begs to be shot

CENTENNIAL, Colo. - Authorities said a woman who shot her husband in the knee won't face charges because he begged her to do it. The Arapahoe County Sheriff's office said a 35-year-old woman accused her husband of being drunk and becoming violent during an argument.

She took control of a handgun during the dispute and claimed her husband begged her to shoot him and told her to 'finish it' after she fired a shot.

The sheriff's office said the 34-year-old husband was uncooperative with deputies before he was taken into custody and hospitalized. He was now being held at the Arapahoe County jail after his wife accused him of forcing her into the bathroom and holding a gun to her head before the shooting.

He faces charges of felony menacing, third-degree assault and false imprisonment.

a common bond

I watching the ring ceremony for the Boston Celtics the other night. The ring ceremony is when the Celtics, who won the NBA Championship last season, were given their championship rings. They were presented the rings before their fans before the start of their first game of the NBA season. The ring ceremony is also the last time that you are celebrated for the previous years success. This is a new season. Time to defend the title.

Watching the ceremony, I was able to reflect back to the day when I played football for South Carolina State University. During my junior year, we won our conference as well as the Black College National Championship. We were awarded the ring that you see above a few months after our magical season was over. I was blown away when i first saw it (yes..those diamonds are real. LOL.)

Much like the Celtics, through the experiences that we went through...it has created a bond between me and my teammates that will never be broken. We all have strong bonds. We have bonds with our family, crew, hood, frat/sorority, etc. There are only maybe a hundred people who have gone through some of the same experiences that I did to get that ring. I can't put into words how special that bond is. It's not like the bond that I have with my crew or my family. It's strong...but just different. And like the Celtics, when I see or talk to an old teammate...we can reminisce about what we accomplished and what we went through.

Like the Celtics, every teammate isn't gonna be your best friend. Shoot, you might not even like some of your teammates. Some dudes you wouldn't have a drink with. LOL. But at the end of the day, we share that common bond b/c of the experience that we shared together. When we see each other, it's all love...just like the Celtics. There are a select few of your teammates who become like brothers to you. Like I said before...it's a very unique bond.

So...in many ways...we're just like the the Celtics and the bond that we share with others can only be described in one word...CHAMPIONS!

random thoughts...

NBA is here! I'm ready!

Can you imagine going to work and getting a staph infection?

Tomorrow marks the 4 year anniversary of the death of Jam Master Jay. We miss you, JMJ.

This Curve is addictive. I haven't put it down yet.

I want to take a moment to apologize to you for neglecting you. I've spent a great deal of time online (job searching, blogging, etc). We will get together very soon. I haven't forgotten about you. I miss you...xbox360

One of my boys has internet dialup! Really! C'mon bruh...catch up with the times

Never understood why dudes (and chicks) get wings when they are at the shoe show (aka strip club). Too much clappin and shakin going on. I don't want no "germs" on my wings.

Nia Long...Nia Long...Nia Long

Speaking of Nia Long, my boy Rezidl had dinner with her at the Thurgood Marshall dinner and he neglected to give her my number! Why?

If he didn't giver her my number, the least that he could have done would be to give her my blog address!

Fellas...remember thinking..."If her period comes on...I promise that I won't do that again."

Ladies...remember thinking..."If my period comes on...I promise that I won't do that again."

One week away from making history. Are you ready?

I'm not a fan of chocolate candy. What about you!

Lauren London...Lauren London...Lauren London

If your job told you that they will triple your salary starting tomorrow. Would you work harder?

I'm not anti-social...maybe I just don't like my co-workers

I love black people

Pray for Jennifer Hudson and her family. I can't imagine what she's going through.

Cold weather is here to stay.

Have you ever locker yourself out of your house or car?

Between the 12th Planet, twitter, and facebook...I'm a media mogul. LoL

If you're interested in somebody...tell em! We're too old to be playing games.

It's cool when you "find" money unexpectedly in your pockets.

you're a customer

I am a consumer

So are you.

We all have a desire to have our consumer needs to be met.

Customer service!!!

I am a huge stickler for good customer service. Nothing frustrates me more than to try to conduct a business transaction and having to deal with bad customer service. For example, if I call for technical support help with my DSL...I would like to speak with somebody who speaks ENGLISH. I don't care about outsourcing...gimme a dude who understands what the hell I'm saying. Period! That's not asking a lot

I've learned that if you wanna get something accomplished while completing a business transaction, then you have to be courteous no matter how bad the service. Sometimes...it's not a good idea to cuss folks out when you're trying to handle business.

Bad customer service. Do you have a story?

two hunnid

Thanks for comin out tonight
You coulda been anywhere in the world, but you're here with me
I appreciate that

Jay Z Izzo (H.O.V.A.)

It started here.

I took me like 5 hours to write that 1st post. Just me and my computer. Not sure where I was gonna go or what I was gonna say. I had only been blogging since Nov '07. But I didn't have my own blog. I would comment on other blogs but the idea of having my own blog was downright scary to me. At the time, I didn't have a job. Downsized from the imploding mortgage industry, I needed an outlet.

Much like Reasonable Doubt...there was supposed to only be one post and then I was gonna quit. I just wanted to see if I could do it. It started out with one and today I celebrate my 200th post! Not bad for a dude who was gonna quit after one post b/c nobody commented on my first post. LOL

I am happy to have reached 200 posts. The 12th Planet has become something special for me. First and foremost, I've gotta thank my boy Weja and my girl LRenee. If you had never suggested that I create my own blog, then I probably never would have done it. Also gotta thank Don and Eb the Celeb. I don't know where Don is (i used to see him around but i don't know if he's still bloggin) but if he had never come to my blog then I would have never met the trillion people who read his blog. Thanks to Eb for the vodoo (lol) shout out back then on RBW. Despite the fact that you like the Cowboys and you went to A&T...you aiiight with me, sis. LOL

I could make an attempt right now to shout out to everybody who has been at the 12th Planet. But if I give a shout out and forget ONE person...I'll be getting an email saying "you didn't give me a shout out! I've been reading since '85." LOL. So, lemme just thank errrrrybody who reads and comments. From those of you in the blog crew...to those who read every day and comment...to those who read and NEVER comment. I really do appreciate you for vibing and hollerinatchaboi each day.

I appreciate the friendships that have been formed through the 12th Planet. I don't take that for granted. Most of you read this blog everyday and I have close friends who've NEVER read my blog. LOL. And I'm cool with that. Over a period of time, I've come to believe that you do one thing...blog for you. Period. It's your thoughts. If you blog for you, you'll be fine. It doesn't matter who reads it. One day I may wanna talk about Obama and the next day I may wanna talk about frogs. And that's cool. Blog for you...and people will read. Even if they don't read it...let it be your method of expression.

200 posts...pop bottles!!!

Have a good weekend!!!!

random thoughts...

C'mon Larry Johnson. I don't care what happened...you don't spit on anybody (especially a woman). You've got pending cases about domestic abuse toward women. Wonder what the NFL is gonna say about that?

Speaking of the NFL, I wonder if they want to hear that one of its stars is smackin' women. Do you get a stiffer penalty for fighting dogs or smackin' women?

Speaking of domestic abuse, Don Cornelius (Soul Train) smacked up a woman over the weekend. He's 73. Why is he smackin a woman?

Usher is going through a separation. Good! I dunno what he saw in that "man" any way. LoL

I think I'm gonna vote early. I just don't want no bs.

I really wish Granny was around to see Obama win this election. She'd be proud.

Ask an elderly person what they think about Obama and I'm sure they'll smile with pride

BET Hip Hop Awards will be on tv...I'll pass

I'm kinda nervous about this new Jay Z cd. Might be time for Jigga to let it go.

Eva Mendes...Eva Mendes...Eva Mendes

Have you ever had a part of your body that hurts when it gets cold?

My pinky is hurting now. And it's Rezidl's fault! He dislocated it when we were in college. Thanks a lot bruh,

Nuffin worse than seeing a dude with chewing tobacco in his mouth.

Nuffin worse than seeing a chick who smokes cigarettes. Complete turnoff.

Have you ever gone to a store and been overwhelmed with merchandise in there? I'm like that at Home Depot sometimes

Everytime I drive past the gas station, the price changes. It keeps going down. I should be happy...but I feel pimped

Why does ESPN air the World Series of Poker? Who watches that? Maybe they should air the Great Spades Tournament? Or a Dominos Tournament?

I love playing Monopoly but that game takes too long

Gabby Union and Dwayne Wade are a couple. Hmmmm. Good to see he got rid of Star Jones.

The NBA season starts next week. Who's your team?

Mary J Blige...Mary J Blige...Mary J Blige

How many bad dates have you been on...less than 5...6-10...15-20?

I've only been on 1.

Big ^ to errrybody from Wilson High who came back for homecoming this past weekend. It was off the chain.

Memo to the Class of 91...we gotta get it together...and we WILL.

checkdafootwerk

The other day I stumbled as I entered our walk in closet.

I didn't stumble b/c I'm clumsy.

I tripped over a pair of shoes.

The shoes weren't mine. They belonged to Mrs12. She has a gazillion shoes. I understand that a woman should have a lotta shoes. I get that.

Sometimes you gotta keep it simple, tho. I don't get caught in that name brand stuff but I know what I like

For me, there's 3 pair of shoes that I need.

1. Black Cole Haan dress shoes- sleek...can go with any suit

2. White Air Force Ones- it's hard to find a white pair of tennis shoes but these kicks can go with anything

3. Wheat Timberlands- I've always had a fresh pair of wheat Timbs. One of my favorite shoes of all time

What about you? Could you condense your shoe game to 3 shoes? (prolly virtually impossible for some of you...but work with me here.lol)
