How many of us have them?
Ones we can depend on
How many of us have them?
Before we go any further, lets be

Is a word we use everyday
Most the time we use it in the wrong way
Now you can look the word up, again and again
But the dictionary doesnt know the meaning of friends

And if you ask me, you know, I couldnt be much help
Because A friend is somebody you judge for yourself
Some are ok, and they treat you real cool
But some mistake kindness for bein a fool

We like to be with some, because they're funny
Others come around when they need some money
Some you grew up with, around the way
And you're still real close too this very day

Homeboys through the Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall
And then there's some we wish we never knew at all
And this list goes on, again and again
But these are the people that we call friends

Friends (Whodini)

This is one of my favorite songs from back in the day. At the time that it came out in 1984, I really didn't know the significance of what it means to be a friend.

I pride myself on being a great friend to many. I am a friend to many of you who read this blog. Friendships are important. If you ever hear somebody tell you that they don't need any friends...they are lying! We all need at least one friend.

Unlike most people, I don't have one best friend. I have my crew. My crew is my best friend. Everybody in my crew is like a brother/sister. Everybody can't be in the crew. And if you have to ask if you're in the crew...then you probably aint! But I have a ton of friends. And I have even more associates. And I like that.

What about you?

Do you have a lot of friends? Do you have more associates?

Do you have ONE friend?

Do your friends remind you of this verse?

I have one best friend, LadyTee, of 30 years, since age 10. That's my life's costar! Through and through. Besides that, I have a small crew of a few. Don't need many.

Seems like those who have been around for 10-20 years, who have seen my good side and my bad side and STILL hang in... well, those are true friends, through and through.

And like you, I got a lot of associates... and that's cool.

My friend's remind me of this verse...

I've never had a best friend. Maybe because I moved around so much as a kid. I have my crew or 'my fam' as I call them and I always seem to have my girls - an intimate group of ladies that are in the same part of their life journey as I am.

I have two females I consider to be my best friends. One I've been close with since we were 3 years old, the other since the 7th grade. There's one guy from college (aside from my husband of course) I know has my back regardless. These guys remind me of this verse.

I have picked up many friends throughout my years. Some come and go, a few have broken my heart, but many stick around and tough it out through my craziness.

But I'm a very friendly person, so I have many many associates. Especially since I move around so much with my job.

I was just quoting this song the other day to someone. I felt let me down as a friend.

I've known my best friend since I was 3 and she's two days older than me! Although she's married and has two kids. She's my ace!

I have a close knit of friends that live in NYC and Houston. I have MANY associates. I'm a friendly azz person(till you cross I pick up as my friends say a lot of "straglers."

I have associates but I do have a ring of friends. None of them may be friends but they know things about me that I would not share with anyone else. We talk when we talk. A good friend is one you can pick up with like time hasn't gone on snce the last time you talked. I talk to about 3 people I have know for over 20 years and a few longer than that.

Id love to have a best friend but I moved around too much as a child to have one of those friends you have known since the age of 10

I do have a group of friends that have been around for at least 10 years though and know me so well they are going to have stories that my children and grandchildren wont believe :)They do remind me of the verse.
