UnLiKeAbLe

We said that 2009 would be the year of CHANGE.

CHANGE is definitely needed.

I'm proposing a new CHANGE.

One of the great things about hip hop and it's lingo is that is forever changing. I propose that we make a change. A few years, the hip hop world adopted the word HATER. We took the word and ran with it. We could immediately identify a HATER (short for playa hater). There's no need for me to define HATER because we all know what it means. We all know HATERS. Or do we?

I propose that we change the word from HATER to the word UNLIKEABLE.

For example, I heard a female say that she didn't think that Beyonce could sing. People immediately labeled her a HATER. Just because she didn't like Beyonce's vocals? HATER? Not so. To her, Beyonce's vocal's are UNLIKEABLE.

Personally, I don't quite a few things/people. For example, I grew up hating the Dallas Cowboys. I don't know any of them personally. To me, they are UNLIKEABLE. I'm not a Kobe Bryant fan. I'm not a HATER. He's UNLIKEABLE to me. I don't know him personally. From afar, he seems to be very aloof and arrogant. Would I have a drink with him? Nope. I've been labeled a Kobe HATER. Not true. He's just UNLIKEABLE to me.

I'm a Yankees fan. If you're a Red Sox fan, I don't expect you to be happy that we just won a title. You're not a HATER. The Yankees and your view is UNLIKEABLE. And it's ok.

It's the same in your personal life. Ladies...if you don't like your co-workers mini-skirt...don't HATE...just say it's UNLIKEABLE. LOL. Got it?
It's ok NOT to like something. You feel me?

Though some of that shit y'all pop true it, I ain't relating. If I don't like it, I don't like it, that don't mean that I'm hating - Common (6th Sense)

Very interesting take on haters! I guess we all are unlikeable to some and some are unlikeable to us!

Good post!

You ain't lyin', brother Kyle. I'm not a Beyonc fan and when I tell people that they'll say, "Stop hating. You're just jealous?" Really? Um, okay... I don't like pickles either. Am I a pickle hater?

I feel ya ... I think we need a whole new vocabulary ... for example ... no one is ugly .. they are just 'highly unattractive' ... At work I say constantly that I'm sick of their 'foolishment' ... definition 'an organization of or organized foolishness'... thanks .. i'll be sure to add 'unlikeable' ....

Yeah, hater is cliche now. Unlikeable a few other choice words are just as descriptive...lol

Nice take on it. Personally, I'm not hating but I kinda like the word "Hater." I find if used correctly, it is QUITE succinct and accurate. Like this...You are a Kobe hater. lmao

Love the post!! Good insight into a word that is over used. But as a Red Sox fan, I really am a Yankee hater I hate everyone in that organization *kanye shrug* sorry lol.

How did I miss this blog LOL. I just got called a hater cause I have no desire to get into vampire stuff like New Moon, Tru Blood, etc. People get on my damn nerves using the "hater" term all wrong. I don't like... doesn't male me a hater because YOU do!

Well said, I'm glad someone feels me on this LOL

I will not concur on it. I assume warm-hearted post. Particularly the title-deed attracted me to be familiar with the whole story.
