PODCAST: internet feelings...

Have you ever read or seen something on the internet and it made you feel some kinda way? Social media was created to make people feel more connected. But in many ways, it's left people feeling less socially connected and sometimes lonely. Superficial relationships, social awkwardness, smartphone addictions can create a monster...if you let it.

We talk about that...and much more on this week's episode of the 12Kyle Podcast

are you EMOTIONALLY intelligent???

"He/she is TOO emotional"

How many times have you heard that said about someone? If you're like me...you've probably heard it alot.

I learned at an early age to always keep my head. No matter what was going on. Never get too high or too low. One thing I also learned was to never be TOO emotional...about anything. Use your emotions to the bring out the best in yourself. There is a such thing as being emotionally intelligent.

I came across this article and I wanted to share it with you...

How to be Emotionally Intelligent

1. SELF-AWARENESS
Realistic self-confidence: You understand your own strengths and limitations; you operate from competence and know when to rely on someone else on the team.

Emotional insight: You understand your feelings. Being aware of what makes you angry, for instance, can help you manage that anger.

2. SELF-MANAGEMENT
Resilience: You stay calm under pressure and recover quickly from upsets. You don’t brood or panic. In a crisis, people look to the leader for reassurance; if the leader is calm, they can be, too.

Emotional balance: You keep any distressful feelings in check — instead of blowing up at people, you let them know what’s wrong and what the solution is.
Self-motivation: You keep moving toward distant goals despite setbacks.

3. EMPATHY
Cognitive and emotional empathy:Because you understand other perspectives, you can put things in ways colleagues comprehend. And you welcome their questions, just to be sure. Cognitive empathy, along with reading another person’s feelings accurately, makes for effective communication.

Good listening: You pay full attention to the other person and take time to understand what they are saying, without talking over them or hijacking the agenda.

4. RELATIONSHIP SKILLS
Compelling communication: You put your points in persuasive, clear ways so that people are motivated as well as clear about expectations.

Team playing: People feel relaxed working with you. One sign: They laugh easily around you.

The question is...are you emotionally intelligent? If so, which qualities do you have?

lyrics 2 go...

I love music. I'm a ole skool hip hop head to the core. I have nothing against some of these new cats who are on the scene. I just think that you have to put more effort into what you're talking about to get the results that you want. If you want to get drunk or get high before you write your verse, then you never know what that will do to your creativity. I don't knock cats for doing what they do. I just know that music ain't what it used to be. Damn...I sound like my pops.

We're gonna keep it real simple today. Today's vibe is gonna be a verse, a rhyme, or 16 bars from one of your favorite songs. It doesn't have to be rap. It can be r&B, country, rock, or poetry.

Here's mine. NaS...Ni***r (Slave and the Master)

[Verse 1]
We trust no black leaders, use the stove to heat us
Powdered eggs and government cheeses
The calendars with Martin, JFK and Jesus
Gotta be fresh to go to school with fly sneakers
Schools with outdated books, we are the forgotten
Summers, coolin off by the fire hydrant
Yeah I'm from the ghetto
Where old black women talk about their sugar level - it's not unusual
To see photos of dead homie's funerals
Aluminium foil on TV antennas
Little TV sit on top the big TV, eating TV dinners
Girls die their hair with Kool-Aid
They gave us lemons, we made lemonade
But this nigger's payed, ancestral slaves
Descendant of kings, it's necessary I - bling
Put rims on everything, where tims on every scene
[Chorus]
They say we N-I double G-E-R, we are
Much more, still we choose to ignore
The obvious, man this history don't acknowledge us
We were scholars long before colleges
They say we N-I double G-E-R, we are
Much more, but still we choose to ignore
The obvious, we are the slave and the master
What you lookin for? You the question and the answer
Have a good weekend

vibes and stuff

I really know how it feels to be, stressed out, stressed out
When you’re face to face with your adversity
I really know how it feels to be, stressed out, stressed out
We’re gonna make this thing work out eventually

A Tribe Called Quest (Stressed Out)

main attraction

I was watching this video and I was reminded of my attraction to this woman. I love me some Jill Scott. Always have. The funny thing is...she's generally not my type.

What I mean by that is that she's a + sized woman and I'm not generally attracted to them. But I am to Jill. I think she is very attractive. Now...she aint got nuffin on my wife but if I wasn't married...I'd get at her. I'm just attracted to her even tho she doesn't fit the "profile" of someone who I might date. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's what I say. And I think she has it.

What about you? Who is the celebrity, entertainer, or regular person who you find attractive but they don't fit the "profile" of who you might date. I don't mean Halle Berry! We all know how fine she is. I'm talking about being attracted to somebody who will make your friends say..."what do you see in them?"

If anybody mentions Flavor Flav...i just might loose my mind from laughing too hard!!!
