addicted to facebook, instagram, & twitter...

Do you spend a lot of time surfing on Facebook?

Do you spend hours tweeting away on twitter?

What about Instagram? Do you spend countless hours thumbing through pictures on Instagram?

Could it be possible that you're addicted? Check out this article that I found on Business Insider...

Tech Addicts Confess How Facebook, Instagram, And Twitter Are Taking Over Their Lives

Are you addicted to Facebook and Instagram? How about Twitter?

Four women told the Herald Sun that they are absolutely addicted to the social media platforms...and what it's meant for their lives, careers, and relationships with loved ones.

One woman, 40-year-old Natalie Trice, says she's on Facebook and Twitter for five hours a day, but feels absolutely no guilt.

"It's my vice," she tells the Herald Sun. "It's something I can do at home. It's my hobby."

But Trice said sometimes it causes tension between her and her husband, who constantly is begging her to not post their arguments or at-home anecdotes on Facebook for the world to see.

"But I usually do," Trice confesses.

"I have 550 Facebook friends, and only about six good friends in real life," she adds.

Then there's Emily Bryce-Perkins, who, at 29, says that without social media, she wouldn't have been a successful publicist. She cites Twitter and Facebook as ways she connects with people in her industry, and says her phone is always in her hand.

"Whenever a news story breaks it is just so exciting to watch it unfold in real time. Plus, it’s completely meritocratic: if you’re sharp on Twitter and good with puns it’s a really useful platform both socially and professionally," she tells the Herald Sun.

But Bryce-Perkins also admits that Facebook was something she cited in her divorce from her husband.

"Facebook was a flashpoint between us — I didn’t think he was intelligent or erudite enough for it and I found his crass posts absolutely mortifying," she says of her ex-husband.

15-year-old Izzy Mackay says the first thing she does when she wakes up in the morning is check her phone, and at lunchtime, she and her friends sit in the cafeteria staring at their screens.

"My group of friends is really good at speaking to each other, but lots of other groups will just hang around in silence posting on Instagram," Mackay says.

She often considers taking a break from the social networks but never goes through with it — "it would be social suicide."

t-w-i...

"Just sat down on the plane next to a fat dude who's sweaty and leaning on me. This is gonna be a looooong flight."

That was the text msg that I sent. I sat in between the fat man and my friend/co-worker Sherry. She saw the text msg just before I sent it. She started laughing.

"Who did you send that to?"

"It's a tweet. I'm on twitter."

"What's twitter?"

I've been asked this question several times. What is twitter? Well, here's the definition...

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read each others' updates, known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters, displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to other users - known as followers - who have subscribed to them. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. The service is free over the Internet, but using SMS may incur phone service provider fees.

However, when people ask me...I can't define it so I usually tell them to join and they'll figure it out. LOL. Twitter has become my latest addiction. It's sharing my thoughts, actions, and whereabouts with a network of friends (called followers). It has become something that I've gravitated towards. For example, the tweet above could generate a conversation between me and 4 other people at once. That's the best way that I can describe it. I'm addicted and damn proud of it! LOL

I'm interested in my followers and vice versa. My twitter name is @12kyle. Some of my followers are some of my peeps who blog on a daily basis. For a blogger, twitter is a natural fit. It's a condensed version of blogging. I don't think it'll ever replace blogging for me because 140 characters ain't enough for me to convey my points. However, it is more than a fad. Twitter is a way of life. Some people enjoy the fact that they can follow celebs and atheletes. Some will actually send tweets back to you...so there's a connection. I'm not big on celebs and athletes b/c I would much rather interact with my peeps. Unlike Facebook, Twitter helps me process my train of thought.

I could go on and on about Twitter but I won't. The influence of twitter made the cover of Time mag this week. You don't need me to pitch it ot you. I'm hooked. And if you try it...you will be too. Beware!

feenin' for crack

"Y'all act like crack is so BAD!!!" - Tyrone Biggums (Chappelle's Show)

This post ain't about crack. I've never seen crack in real life anyway. LOL

This post is about foods that are like crack. You know...those foods that sometimes "be callin'" you like what crack did for Pookie in New Jack City

I know I'm not the only one who has these crack attacks from time to time.

We all have food addictions. Here are mine.

1. McDonald's French Fries
I have these at LEAST once a week! i gotta have it. Just can't drive by the golden arches and not get some fries. Are they healthy? No...but neither is crack.

2. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
This addiction isn't as frequent. I'm not big on sweets. I can hold off these for at least a month. However, these are my favorites. I'm convinced that they put crack in these things. To hell with Dunkin Doughnuts! Gimme Krispy Kreme. If you've never had one...you're missing out. LOL

3. Fried Chicken
Stereotypical? A black man who loves chicken? LOL. I don't care what people say. I'ma get me some chicken at least once a week. I gotta have that yardbird. I prefer it fried but I'll eat it baked...broiled...smothered...etc! It doesn't matter. Is it healthy? I dunno. That's why I workout! LOL

What about you? I know that I can't be the only one who has an addiciton to a particular food.

I'M ADDICTED...AND YOU ARE, TOO!

I am an addict. I have been an addict for a loooong time. I've been an addict for so long that I didn't even know that I was an addict. I can't remember when the addiction started. I just know that I have an addiction. And knowing is half the battle. The addiction has gotten so bad that I start my day with it. I have to have it when I wake up in the morning. I usually get my fix during the day. And I ALWAYS end the night with it. Yeah...if you haven't figured it out by now...I'm a sports addict. I'm a huge football, basketball, and baseball fan. I'm also into golf pretty deep right now. Sports have always played a major part of my life. I started playing football competitively at the age of 8. I was so small that the city made my parents sign a waiver that insured that they would not sue the city if I got injured playing with the bigger kids b/c I didn't meet the weight requirements. It went from playing little league football to high school football to college football. My involvement in football led to a love for the game of basketball. I remember watching some dude named Michael Jordan who became my favorite basketball player and one of the best to ever play the game.

Like most people, I became a true fan of sports at an early age. With the invention of a sports network like ESPN, I was hooked! I don't think this addiction is that bad. I'm not a person who watches a lot of TV. I've never seen Friends. I've only seen one episode of Seinfeld. I love to watch old reruns of Martin, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and My Wife and Kids. If I'm not watching that, I'm usually watching SOME sporting event. I have even fallen into the "highlight syndrome." The highlight syndrome is the phenomenon of watching a game in its entirety then you immediately watch the highlights of that same game. You watch the highlights of the game as if you've never seen it before. That's normal right? LOL

I think this addiction gets on my wife's nerves sometimes. She'll say things like "Can we watch something other than sports?" I can't say that I blame her. But everybody knows that football is better than any show on the Food Network, right? Haaaaa. We've been together since college so she's known about this addiction. She's tried to send me to rehab a few times but I just won't go. I can handle my addiction. Sports don't consume me. It's only a hobby. LOL. I know that I'm not the only addict around here. As a matter of fact, I'm an addict...and so are YOU!!

NEW ADDICTIONS

HD TV- There is nothing better than watching a game in High-Definition. If you don't have HD, you need to get it.

Tivo/DVR- It'll change the way that you watch TV

The Boondocks (Cartoon Network)-If you wanna laugh...and laugh hard. Watch this!!!

The Wire- The best thing on Tv. Period!

I would write more on this blog...but the game is about to come on. Haaaaaaaaaaa
