100% Dundee

rhyme time

Yeah, sitting in the staircase, holding back tears
Looking over mad years worth of photographs
Pictures of some places I ain't never going back
Some people I used to love, why I ain't show them that?
The skies was overcast, when I was sober last
My head is spinning, couldn't tell you if it's slow or fast
It's starting to get too clear, I got to go and grab
To y'all it's a shame but life is what we know it as
Waiting, navigating the plot, without plans
In the cards, it's hard to read as a clock with no hands
How your man's goin' get up and stop with no yams
All it take is one break, it could pop the program
Whether sinning or not, my back bending like I'm sendin' alot
I feel some brothers is beginning to plot
It might have been a close friend I forgot
Who started up and ain't remember to stop
I bet these niggaz going remember the shop

Black Thought of the Roots ( Clock With No Hands)

Sup y'all. Back on March 31st, I wrote about what I saw as the sistas plight and struggle within this dating game and the game called life. Many of you who responded with comments like..."what about what men do...what role do they play...12kyle, don't just blast women you have to talk about men, too." Well, that day has arrived. I'm not here to bash my bruthas. I'm in the same race that you are in. However...I have to call it like I see it. Hopefully, I won't step on any toes in the process. If I step on your toes...then say ouch!!!!

1. Be YOU!! We gotta stop tryna be somebody that we aren't. We can't all can't be a THUG. Women don't want a man who can't bring any sensibility to the table. Too many times we try soooo hard in being somebody else. Be you!

2. Take care of your kids. If you and the baby momma ain't together...do more than sending a check. You have to understand that you are Superman in your child's eyes. You can do no wrong in their eyes. Don't disappoint them. Be a ROLE MODEL

3. Stop talking about "she just wants me for my money" when you spent 20 mins driving up and down the street for everybody to see you in your 600 Benz. Then, you throw your Benz keys on the bar so that the chicks can see what kinda car that you're driving. C'mon, bruh

4. Take that shit (grillz) out of your mouth. There's nothing cool about that look if you're older than 25

5. Pull ya pants up. And if you see a young cat with his pants falling off his ass, then tell him to pull his pants up.

6. Be HONEST with women. If you don't want a relationship, then tell them that on DAY 1. If they proceed from there, then its on THEM and not some lie that you told.

7. Complement a woman in a non-sexual situation. Trust me...it'll go a long way.

8. There are a TON of educated women who are looking for YOU. Stop settling for these crazy chicken headz out there.

9. Find a woman who will challenge, motivate, and encourage YOU. You don't need a woman to tell you what you wanna here b/c we aren't always right. I know I'm not.

10. Be a LEADER...not a follower

11. Be man enough NOT to care if she makes more than you. Who cares about that?

12. Understand that sistas will do anything sexually that white women will do. All you have to do is ask.

13. How long do you intend to be a playa? I'm not saying that every man should run down the aisle to get married but you can't be a playa forever. You don't wanna be the "old dude in the club"

14. Don't be afraid of a COMMITMENT. Period

15. Understand that at SOME point in time, you must put your rap career on the back burner.

16. You must have a game plan for how you will handle a woman. I don't mean that you should run game on her. Even if you could. You should have a plan for what you want from a woman. More importantly, you should be able to eloquently present that to her.

17. Surround yourself with positive influences

18. Set goals for yourself, your family, and your woman

19. Be able to spot a good woman and keep her in your inner circle as a friend...even if she doesn't KNOW how good that you could be for her.

20. LOVE HARD. You'll never know love until you open your heart.

  1. FIRST! Yayyyyyy! It's been hard these days, who knew you post a midnight, lol! Love this! Preach CBW!

So much to comment on, but i'm just going to say, that we women are out there, and we are ready to find a mate who desires us, who will respect us, and in return we are here to do the same. Not looking for no "Lil Jon's, Baby...etc" Oh no, just want the real you know. It's funny, i was driving home today, listening to the radio station, and they were playing "I Miss You" by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes...(for y'all younguns, that was Teddy Pentergrass first group)...so i'm listening to the brother break it down, speaking on how he missed this young lady, and just the amount of respect he gave her was so evident, (no b's ,hoes,) just baby, i miss you...now that's what i miss. Have a great day 12KYLE!

  2. Yes Miz is first!!! LOL. I know its hard being first

I think for the most part we all want the same thing but we have different means of trying to get it.

    Have a good weekend, Miz

  4. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!

CBW you just blew my whole game out the water. With a double barrel shotty with rock salt in the shells. LOL

Nah, I agree with points 1 through 20.

To Paraphrase.....If a brother makes himself into a nice package. Well groomed, self reliant, morally adept, socially aware, religiously involved and consciously connected. Women will come. ANd if you do a good job of the above....they will stay.

  6. nice one! i was watching that episode of martin recently when he started freaking out at the thought of marriage. ya'll just don't want to miss that freak train-LOL!!!

one thing i think has dimished is the approach/chilvary aspect has gotten lost...it seems as if some men do not know/value/understand the art of being a gentleman. i know its 2008, but i still uphold such gestures and appreciate them. i'm sure many women would as well if they were automatically displayed.

  7. I so heart you for this post.

@PCD, I remember that episode, and I do think chivalry is a fine art that is slowly dying.

I can't speak for other women, but I so admire gentlemen. Nothing makes me blush more having a man open my car door and treat me like the dainty prissy woman that I can be.

I drill it into my son's head to be a leader and not a follower. To blaze the trail. It kills me to see him give into someone else due to pressure.

Brad pretty much summed up my sentiments.

    Great post!

  10. dead @ put the rap career on the backburner. lol.

12kyle, you came with some heat this morning. I swear you did.

One thing I can say is that I am open and honest. Sometimes to a fault. But I figure if there is going to be a bond, then honesty is always the best policy. Always and forever. I stopped placing so much emphasis on what women take from that honesty, cause women change like the weather. I swear to God they do. But I aint beat; I'm quite game.

As far as comittment goes...well, who knows.

I think beauty is found within everyone. And I think there is someone for everyone, so whether people conform to the labels being placed on them by society or not, once a man and woman get down to the heart of hearts...we always to tend to uncover a frightened child anyways. Unconditional love is the key: it weathers th storm of change.

    Good post.

  11. I agree with all that you speak. I'm going to touch on #1 though.

    Just be YOU!

I get annoyed with misrepresentation. How can you present yourself one way but when I open the box, you are a completely different person?

If you present yourself as hard, stay hard.

If you present yourself as a lover, stay a lover.

If you present yourself as a "regular" guy, stay a regular guy. Don't attempt to all of a sudden be hard just because I say that that is what I am used to dating. I am dating you for you, not for you to change into something that I am used to.

    Just be YOU!

  12. Great post 12kyle! Admittedly, I haven't been single in 14 years, but everything you said applies to both single and married men.

And I agree with Queen, I love that my hubby holds the door open for me and that he taught my son to always, ALWAYS, carry the umbrella over me when it is raining outside. When chivalry is taught from father to son, it stays with them for life.

  14. Great post! I wish every man could read your list!

I really love the "pull your pants up" tip! When I see men and young guys with their pants hanging off their butts, I think one thing - immature and just plain dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Good points have been made. I also think that some guys want the easy chick.. the one that won't challenge them. I like this one

"Be able to spot a good woman and keep her in your inner circle as a friend...even if she doesn't KNOW how good that you could be for her." Why are men afraid to be friends? Your mate should be your BEST friend.

AND....What ALL do white woman do? LOL! No need for an answer.

Lord thank you for my wife, my father and mom
And God thank you for my daughter and son
You know the devil he's been doin us wrong
-->And I love both of my kids, but they momma can't raise 'em alone"

Both YOU and Trick, better preach that shit! Hope these bruhs bought a clue from you. Kind'a falls in line with an aspect of (my) post today. *not a shameless plug* And I peeped you joining in on the "lyric battle." Good one you brought forth. *Digging in my repertoire...TGIF*

  25. You said alot KD. I am going to make this short. You have to have some kind of morals and values for yourself. Without that your relationship, friends, or marriage will be nothing more than a image of excuses, disarray, and frustration. Evrything you said I agree with, but keeping it real for the most part, nobody know what the hell they want in relationship in these days. Women & Men say the right lines until the next best thing come along then you back at square one again with a new philosophy about relationships.
The majority women want a Denzel and the men want Halle (just keeping it real). Nothing wrong with that but don't be the one mad as hell when you don't get what your looking for because you might be shit outta luck.
Remember we are visional people first and if the vision is blurry then no matter what we say or do it will not work because our images are created in minds before we actually act thoughs thoughts out.
