high tech

I was rude

Well, it wasn't my intent

A friend pointed out to me that it was rude of me to be at lunch with co-workers...but on my blackberry the whole time.

I didn't think I was being rude. I can carry on two conversations at the same time. LOL. Was it rude? I guess. Maybe the conversation on the blackberry was better than the one I was having with the stiff co-workers? Of course it was.

I'd be the first to admit that the advances that have been made to modern technology has spoiled me. I'm spoiled to the point that I'm somewhat lazy. Am I the only one? Nope. You are too! Have you ever...

- spent 5 minutes looking for the remote control to the tv because you were too lazy to have to "manually" change the channel on the tv?

- spent more time texting a man/woman that you like than talking on the phone....

- sent a text message to someone within 10 feet of you...

- spent more time loading your ipod with songs for you to work out to...than the time you actually spent working out..

- refused to watch certain channels if they aren't in high definition (I do!!)

- cooked a full course meal...with a microwave

- left your house...then realized that you left your cellphone at home...and you could not function for the day?

- grabbed your laptop or cellphone before you got outta bed?

- sextexting

- used the GPS on your phone and the GPS in your car...at the same time

If you've done any of the above, you've been spoiled by technology!

  1. I'm guilty of ALLLLLL that. In fact, I'm sexting RIGHT NOW.

  2. I know I'm spoiled. I don't apologize for it. Yes, I have texted people beside me because if I say aloud what I want to say, somebody's feelings would be hurt.
I was told by someone I was rude when I had my first Smartphone, a Motorola Q, and now that she has a Blackberry, she's more rude than I ever was.
It's now a way of life. We multi-task all day long. I never turn my phone off. Never.
    I'm not sorry. *shrug*

  3. I'm definitely spoiled. It's 2:35 am and I'm on Twitter on my iTouch when I know I need to be asleep. And God forbid you expect me to spell a word on my own.

    @ Smarty
You're right! It's our lifeline. And we have to have it...well...that's what we tell ourselves. LoL

    @ Ra
Amen to that! I dunno what I'd do without spellcheck

  5. Okay I'm spoiled. I once carried on an instant message conversation with my sister...and she was in the next room.

I haven't cooked a meal in a microwave though. The chef in me just won't allow it.

My cellphone doubles as my alarm clock, so it sleeps under my pillow.

  6. I am definitely spoiled by technology. My BB has been the cause of many an argument in relationships(that's never a good thing). My BB is also my alarm clock so yea, it even sleeps right beside me. LOL. The only thing I hate about being spoiled by technology, is now I hate to actually talk on the phone, and very rarely talk on the phone now. I'll BBM or text in a minute, but actual convo, I'm cool.

  7. LOL . . .I'm guilty!!!! I've done a few of these!!! I think most of us are spoiled by technology. I get to use my own computer a work, which only makes it worse. I usually have skype, aim, yahoo, facebook chat, Pandora (gotta have the music) all running between clients and my BB accessible :-/

  8. LMAO! I laughed at my cousin over Christmas when he called my other cousin who was upstairs!!

I'm guilty of sexting (aren't we all?). Especially when a man is good with words ;-)

Other than that...I am not totally spoiled. Mainly because I'm cheap. Those plans need to come down a little more before I add internet, etc.

  9. I personally don't see it being rude if you are out with co-workers on your phone and carrying a conversation... but I do find it rude if you are on your phone and trying to carrying a conversation while on a date... unless you are making arrangements to dip because the date is THAT horrible.

I am such a fan of actual conversation, but those I associate with don't seem to be so I am stuck I guess :(

But technology has spoiled us. I remember I once left my iPhone at home while rushing to work, and felt like the world was going to end the entire day because I didn't have my phone with me.
