Woman
was mad from the rib of a man
she was not created from his head~to the top of him
nor from his feet~to be stepped upon
She was made
from his side~to be equal to him:
from beneath his arm~to be protected by him:
near his heart~to be loved by him

ReplyDeleteThis poem has hung on the wall at my mom's house for years...but I never paid attention to it until today. I was in South Carolina over the weekend and when I read this...it made sense to me.

Great post! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I heard this the Rev said it at my wedding. It stuck with me then, and it rings true to my now.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many people would interpret that in different ways? Especially since the man that stood beside me then is now the "ex"
from the side homie
