Ole skool. That's me. Let's take it back to the ole skool today.
I was reading my girl Pro's "review" of the new Lil Wayne cd. After reading it, I started thinking about how music has changed. Today's music is different from the music of the 80s and 90s. But then again...so are we! We're older so our tastes are different.
I thought about the music that was HOT back in the 80s. Then, I looked through the old cd collection and I picked out one of my favorite cds from the 80s.
GUY
Guy is the self titled debut album from the American R&B band Guy. It was released in 1988 by MCA Records. It is credited with popularizing the New Jack Swing genre and was co-written produced and co performed by Teddy Riley who was instrumental in developing and created this new style. It became a platinum selling record.
1. "Groove Me"
2. "Teddy's Jam"
3. "Don't Clap...Just Dance"

7. "'Round and 'Round (Merry Go 'Round of Love)"
8. "Spend The Night"
9. "Goodbye Love"
10. "My Business"
This cd was SMOKIN!!! From the beginning to the end. Today's post...gimme ONE HOT cd from the 80s. You don't have to provide the tracklisting if you don't want to but you have to tell me the hits from that cd. And the cd MUST be from the 80s.

Shelly Shell put it down. I'm going to jog my memory (check my ipod) and come back, the 80's were monster for music.
ReplyDeleteMan, ya'll making me feel bad...i was born on the tail end of the 80's...i have nothing to contribute...*pouts*...but if this was about some of that good 90's r&b, i'd be in there!

ReplyDeleteArtist = CHAKA KHAN
Album = NAUGHTY
Released = 1980

Baby that's simple. Prince and that Purple Rain album. Me and Mabel both had purple leather suits round the time that song came out. We was sharp as a tact chile'. Anyhow I remember the night we wore our purple leather we played that Purple Rain song back to back. Kinda made that our theme song for the night. Chile we was in there dancing and laughing, smoking and dranking having us a good ole time. I still had the fire in me even in my 50's baby.
ReplyDeleteBaby you know we still got them suits. I looks good in mine to this day, but po Mabel put it on and she gone have a bunch of kids running up to her. That chile' would look like Barney for sho in that outfit right about now. Take care now.
Signed
Ruthie Ann
