Top 5
A recent conversation between me and Kameron, my 5 year old son...
Kameron- "Daddy, when you were a kid...did you watch SpongeBob on tv?"
Me-"No, Kameron. SpongeBob didn't come on tv when I was a kid. SpongeBob isn't really a cartoon."
Kameron- "Yes it is."
Me- "Not really. It's not like the Superfriends or Scooby Doo. Those were real cartoons."
Kameron- "I don't like Scooby Doo. It's not better than SpongeBob." He looks at me and walks out of the room. Damn! This kid acts JUST like me. He gets the last word in...then he leaves.

4. Jackson 5 - ahah, bet you forgot about that one.
5. Spiderman/Batman - tie
Forgot to say have a great weekend, and while away i thought of...
ReplyDelete- the one with Tweety Bird
- Roadrunner
okay, that's it for me...for now, lol
My son and I had this same conversation the other day.
ReplyDelete1. Jetsons- They had microwaves and dishwashers in the 70's.
2. Flintstones- come to think of it they had dishwasher and a microwave too. LOL Ofcourse it included a mammoth to do the washing.
3. SuperFriends- you couldn't tell me that I wasn't wonderwoman growing up. I think I still have that costume somewhere. LOL
4. Smurfs- I loved them especially smurfette.
5. Ritchie Rich-and all the other saturday morning cartoons.
1. Smurfs
ReplyDelete2. Speed Racer
3. Tom & Jerry
4. Superfriends & The Legion of Doom
5. Transformers
@ Miz
ReplyDeleteYes! You are first! LOL
Jackson 5 is really old skool. Careful, you're about to tell your age. Haaa
@ LRenee
Isn't it funny how kids are COMPLETELY turned off by our cartoons?
I loved the Jetsons, too.
@ Rezidl
Everybody loved the Transformers...except me.
Speed Racer is a good one, son.
Oh Man your bringing back memories... Yes ! we had the REAL cartoons.
ReplyDelete1. Anything Looney Tunes ALL DAY.
Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam, Tweety bird & Sylvester, Daffy Duck, Road Runner.

ReplyDelete2. Incredible Hulk/Spiderman - we were huge Marvel comic fans.
3. Justice League - Loved the whole series
4. Speed Racer - It was so rare to catch it. It felt like X-mas everytime I saw it.
5. Fat Albert - Practically grew up with those characters.
Flintstones was my all time favorite.

ReplyDelete1. Foster's Home for Imaginary friends (if you ain't seen it, make an appoint to give it a look see).
2. The Boondock
3. Furtureruma
4. King of the Hill
5. The Simpsons
6. Family Guy
7. The Batman
8. Batman Beyond
9. Kim Possible

Yeah, I went for ten. You can't tell me what to do. I don't care. Now if we are talking old school.
1. The Flintstones
2. Any thing by Hanna-Barba (who created the Flintstones)
3. Looney Toon
4. Muppetbabies
5. Tom and Jerry
6. Spiderman and his Amazing Friends.
OOhhhh-ohhhh-ohhhh. Add the Xmen to the first list.
I base these on whether or not I would watch reruns of them if they came on TV. That is the only reason that I didn't put Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids or the short lived Jackson Five. I just out grew them for some reason.
Okay, I'm through, I guess. By the way. Nice conversation with the five year old. I'm glad he was big enough to walk away from an argument that no one would win. Says a lot about him. LOL
Have a good weekend, bruh. I can't even remember watching cartoons.
ReplyDeleteI do remember watching What's Happening, Good Times, Happy Day, Laverne & Shirley, and That's My Momma.
LOL.
@ prettyblack: oh, yeah, Mighty Mouse was a mofo!
ReplyDeleteWell, my knowledge of cartoons is somewhat limited because I wasn't really allowed to watch them in my house, only at my cousin's or grandma's place.
ReplyDelete1. Tom and Jerry- "Can't play gui-tar without a gui-tar string!"
2. The Jetsons
3. Thundercats- "HOOOOOOOOOOO!"
4. He-Man (but not that wack-ass She-Ra)

I wanna take Speed Racer off mines and put Thundercats. Oh and I LOVED He-Man. Dang. This was too hard. Was this a test? Did I fail?
ReplyDelete*I promise I don't look @ other comments until after I post mine* In the event of redundancy I have placed the above disclaimer for pardon. Surely you don't want to be bored by repeat offenders. LOL
ReplyDelete1. Josie & the Pussycats
2. Jetsons
3. Scooby Do
4. Yogi Bear 'nem
5. Tom & Jerry
Bonus: Rocky & Bullwinkle; especially since they would come on hella early before the actual cartoon lineup came on TV.
Cute post; prolly feel this way because my 6yo kid of late has been asking me stuff about what I liked/watched/etc. when I was her age. I think this is in part to the fact that I've been Tivo'ing old school shows for them to watch because I KNOW what was on TV back in our day was safe, clean, predictable yet funny and relatable. They heavy into the Diff'rent Strokes series I record for them. And I get a kick out of my youngest being as inquisitive as I about certain show quirks. She was like, "Mommy, when you were a kid my age and watched this show did they show inside of Kimberly's room?" Her lil nosey ass! I always was curious on all things girly too (I wonder what's inside that big girls purse? She looks all grown up. I bet she got some lip gloss in there.) ROTFL
I can definitely relate. Having a 10, 7 and 6 yo has me wide open for enough questions. K, enough of me blogging in your comments. Peace, bruh.

Rocky & Bullwinkle came on at like 4 or 5 am when i was a kid in SC. LOL. I never knew why. LOL. Good list
Tv back then was REALLY safe. I remember when they'd run a disclaimer about "adult themes and viewer discretion was advised" and they'd only be talking about sex or pregnancy. That's the stuff that's on tv 24/7 right now.
"Can it be that it was all so simple then."-Raekwon the Chef (Wu-Tang)

Don I hope you just don’t remember or just haven’t thought about those old cartoons because it would be cruel if your parents banned cartoons from the crib like The Jaded Nyer’s parents did. At least she was allowed some cartoon viewing pleasures outside her home.
